Robert Arning

Chairman of KPMG Foundation and Client Care Executive, Humanitarian

As Chair of the KPMG Foundation and leader of the firm’s Community Impact philanthropic efforts Rob is responsible for developing and executing upon KPMG’s commitment to developing leaders through lifelong learning. This overarching commitment pulls together the efforts of our partners, employees and our Foundation in support of several critical organizations dedicated to improving the learning and educational opportunities available from pre-K through the board room. This commitment also extends to supporting several critical health and wellness initiatives across the country.

As leader of KPMG’s client care initiative, Rob is responsible for coordinating the efforts of our senior most partners serving as Account Executives in support of our most significant audit clients.
Prior to assuming this position Rob served as Vice Chair-Market Development, where he was responsible for driving cross-functional client care and quality growth in KPMG’s largest markets, with an emphasis on Fortune 1000, strategic mid-market and private equity firms. In this position, Rob had oversight of KPMG’s industry sectors, Private Equity, Private Markets, International Corridors, as well as Marketing and Communications. He was a member of KPMG LLP’s US Management Committee and the firm’s Global Clients & Markets Team from 2008 to 2018.

Rob has significant client service experience with global accounts and has held a series of leadership positions of increasing responsibility within the firm. Prior to being Vice Chair of Market Development, he served as managing partner of KPMG’s largest office in New York City for seven years. In this role, Rob was responsible for the delivery of high-quality client service, attracting and retaining key talent and resources, and representing the firm and the New York Office in the marketplace and community He has also served as the Lead Area Managing Partner for the Northeast Area and had direct responsibility for the results of the Audit practice as Northeast Area Managing Partner for Audit. He joined the firm in 1983 and was elected to the partnership in 1995. Rob graduated from the LIU CW Post School of Professional Accountancy in 1984.

Rob is an active supporter of a number of community and charitable organizations including: American Cancer Society, PENCIL, New York Says Thank You, CONCERN, and City Harvest.
